Tamang Heritage Trail - 11 Days for Families Holidays with Children's Trek is one of the treks that offer the never-ending beautiful scenery of the Nepalese hills along with an insight of the traditional Tamang culture and their way of life. It is both a superb introduction to trekking in Nepal and a cultural adventure amongst some of the most beautiful scenery in the whole country, with rich Tamang culture, amazing natural scenery, and awesome mountain vistas.
Developed by the Tourism for Rural Poverty Alleviation Program (TRPAP) under the UNDP fund, the Tamang Heritage Trekking Local Guide is a newly developed trekking destination which was developed to distribute equal tourism opportunities among the poor rural communities living in the Rasuwa region. The region has the feel of little Tibet and trekkers who have gone there claim it is like trekking in Langtang 20 years ago. Since its development, the revenue and other income generated by the tourism activities in this region contributed directly to the local communities supporting the local livelihood, women’s empowerment, and environmental conservations.
The trek initially starts from Kathmandu from where a 134km stretch of road leads us to Syabru Bensi by either local bus, super Experience or private car. From Syabru Bensi the route passes through Goljung, Gatlang, Chilime, Tatopani, Thumen, Timure, Rasuwagadi and Briddim, khangim, Lama hotel whilst ending back Thulo Syabru Dunche. Among others, the opportunity to stay and explore the village of Gatlang remains one of the most fascinating natural highlights of this trip. With its unusual setting, exotic costumes, Tamang cultural shows, traditional handicraft, religious festivals, intriguing architect, Gatlang is sure to leave the visitors mesmerized. The viewpoint at Goljung Bahum Danda) provides the opportunity to gaze beyond the Tibetan frontier with amazing mountain views that include the Sangen Himal, Paldor Peak, Ganesh Himal two, Langtang Lirung and the Lauribinayek range Nagthali Gyang. As we head further we also have the opportunity to relax in a soothing natural hot spring, known as “Tatopani”, we're taking a bath even just for once is believed to cure many skin problems. From here we head to Nagthali Hill (3165(m) Option: In Naphtali walk 2 hours to the Tharuche Viewpoint(3600m) and stay the night in Nagthali (3165m). From the Viewpoint, you can see Kerung village (Tibetan houses). Or followed by Thuman where we will explore century old monasteries and traditional houses adorned with rich wood carvings. In Gatlang and Briddim it is possible to stay at peoples homestay or guest house. Because right now there are a few more guest house. Travelers stay with the host families, eat traditional food and sleep in their home. The menu usually consists of Special dido set, rice, Tibetan bread, syakpa (Sherpa stew), potato. Visitors can also observe the local rituals and cultural practices with the community and go on village walks to see the lifestyle and customs of the local residents.
