Show All DetailsKailash Manasarovar Via Kerung
Tibet is the land of snows, the roof of the world. For centuries this mysterious Buddhist kingdom, locked away in its mountain fastness of the Himalaya, has exercised a unique hold on the imagination of the West. For explorers, imperialists and traders it was a forbidden land of treasure and riches. Mount Kailash tour is the sacred Mountain situated at China’s autonomous region of Tibet. Most Hindus believe Mount Kailash to be the exclusive abode of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Buddhists worship it as the dwelling and meditating spot of Lord Buddha. It is believed that completing the pilgrimage to Kailash and Mansarovar, one can attain the ultimate Salvation: “Mokshya” from all the known and unknown sins ever committed in life.
This arduous pilgrimage to Kailash the Darshan (divine view) of Shiva’s abode is to get cleansed from the clutches of curses due to the vices of life. Every year thousands of Hindus, Buddhist, Jains and Bonpo pilgrims from across the globe visit the holy Mount Kailash and Mansarovar Lake.
Tibet, a roof of the world is the world’s renowned pilgrimage destination as it is a homeland to Kailash Parvat. It is also the cynosure of beauty and a place that every person aspires to be once in their lifetime. Elevated at 6713 meters, Kailash Parbat (the snow-capped rocky peak) with 53 km periphery is undoubtedly the holiest abode of the supreme Hindu God; Lord Shiva is also believed to be a place where the founders of Tibetan Buddhism, Jainism, and Bonpo religions once meditated and resided. The source to the four longest rivers of Asia namely, The Brahmaputra, The Indus, The Ganges, and The Sutlej, Hindus and the Buddhists all over the world worship this peak as the precise "Centre of the Universe".
Mansarovar Lake is also known as “The Unconquerable Lake”. Its name is derived from the Sanskrit language where the word “Manas” means mind or consciousness an instrument to enlightenment and “Sarovar” means lake. Literally, Manasarovar means the lake of one’s spirit. Mt. Kailash lies beside the most sacred Hindus lake of Mansarovar (4580m). It has a deep spiritual influence and an age long religious significance for both the Hindus and the Buddhists. Hindu describe it as a bathing Lake of Lord Shiva and Buddhist identify the Lake as the meditating spot as Lord Buddha is believed to have obtained Enlightenment meditating at the shore of this Lake. According to the legends, one can purge oneself from all the sins of life by making one to three rotations of this relatively circled Lake. In order to attain “Moksha”, the ultimate salvation in life, one has to reach at least the vicinity of the Kailash and Mansarovar. According to the Holy Scriptures, even a single dip into the lake of Manasarovar can free you from the chain of this mortal life and securing your place in heaven. It takes three full days to just go through its circumference even for the locals while others may take 5-7 days for the same. High Lamas, Monks, Priest can be seen worshipping and praying at its shore. The eight Tibet different Buddhist monasteries have added spirituality to this lake. The peaceful environment and spiritual fragrances are inviting devote to venture this holy Mount Kailash and Manasarovar Lake. Summer temperatures hover above 30'C (high-80s F) and only to drop to -23'C (-10'F) in midwinter. The best time to visit is from late spring to early fall.
