Welcome to  Janaipurnima "Aama Chodingmo" (Parvatikunda Pilgrimage!

Foure hundred meters above the village of Gatlang in Rasuwa, Nepal, Ama Chodingmo (' Parvati Kunda sits like a jewel in the forest.  Situated at 2,600m, the small wetland is not only a reservoir of biodiversity but also a major source of water for 400 households in Gatlang Village and a religious site that draws hundreds of visitors to festivals each year 1.

According to Hinduism, when the poison released from the churning ocean killed the entire human race, then Lord Shiva drank that poison to save the entire human world. As the poison started to burn from within, Lord Shiva went to the Himalayas to ease the burning sensation, so he brought his wife Parvati with him. It is said that when Parvati climbed the Himalayan region (Parvati now Parvati Kunda) .
